What is a 'tied agent' vs an 'independent agent' in mutual fund distribution?

0% of students got this wrong

EXPLANATION

In distribution terminology, a tied agent (or captive agent) exclusively sells products of one company or AMC. An independent agent (IFA) can be empanelled with multiple AMCs and sell schemes from any of them, giving investors a wider choice. Most mutual fund distributors in India operate as independent agents.
