EXPLANATION
Market risk (systematic risk) is the risk arising from factors that affect the entire market — economic recession, interest rate changes, geopolitical events, inflation. It cannot be eliminated through diversification because all assets in the market are affected. Beta measures a portfolio's sensitivity to market risk.
