EXPLANATION
Value investing (Benjamin Graham, Warren Buffett) targets stocks trading below their intrinsic or book value — typically low P/E, low P/B stocks. These may be temporarily out of favour. The risk is the 'value trap' — stocks that appear cheap but keep falling due to fundamental deterioration. When re-rating occurs, returns can be significant. SEBI categorises value funds as an equity scheme.
