What is the Custodian's role in a mutual fund?

EXPLANATION
The Custodian holds all securities and other assets of the mutual fund scheme in safe custody, typically in demat form. The Custodian also settles securities transactions (delivery and receipt of securities), collects dividends and interest on portfolio securities, and confirms holdings to the AMC. The Custodian must be SEBI-registered.
