EXPLANATION

A credit event refers to a negative development — default or sharp rating downgrade — of a bond issuer whose paper is held in the fund. This can cause sudden, significant NAV falls. Side pocketing was introduced by SEBI to segregate such distressed assets from the main portfolio.
